Sweat Lodge
(Photos and report by Walter Muma)

Thirteen people (plus three more who attended for a short while) met at Joe Johnston's place near Brantford to build and then participate in a sweatlodge.

The group met for lunch, provided by our hosts, Joe and Sherry. After a short meeting to discuss the sweatlodge structure and ceremony, people headed out onto the property to gather materials. The lodge was finished by sunset. The fire was then lit, rocks heated, and the lodge commenced. Afterwards we all met for a potluck dinner. Most people then went off to their homes.

Here is a photo of most of the group working on the main supports of the lodge.

The firepit. This is where the fire was built to heat the rocks.

(Sorry, there's no more photos, as sweatlodge protocol does not allow photos of a finished sweatlodge to be displayed.)
